Have you ever made a quilt that was simply a joy from start to finish?
That's what this quilt has been!
From the initial idea of making an easy to duplicate improvised block, to the beginning sketches, to playing around with how the block would be constructed and then putting it all together, and watching it develop...
Fun! Pure and simple fun!
I had a lot of left over fabric bits and scraps from this quilt and have already stitched up several small quilt tops from them. I'll share them in a future post once I have them quilted!
Now, I just have to come up with a name for this quilt. Usually I have no problem naming my works, but this time I am not sure...
When I look at the quilt, I see railroad tracks, railroad crossing signs, sidewalks, arrows and kites. My original inspiration does lay somewhere in those things, but before I decided
I'd love to know what you see!

love everything about this. my first thoughts are journey. along or with another word. but then i was thinking about the "sliding doors" movie. a very nice design.
Love the movement and boldness of this quilt! I see hiking trails, with ups and downs and trail markers.
The first word that popped in my mind was;
Fracture, fractured...Not sure why...
Anyway it's lovely!
Something about those colors makes me think of summer fun...carnivals, state fairs, and potlucks! How about naming it Summer Casserole? Easy and delicious!
In my humble opinion....you are overthinking it.....name it JOY......it's the perfect description!!!
I thought Jujubes...just because it's so much fun to say.
This is fantastic and the first thing I saw was a bunch of houses and porches so how about "Porches"?:)
I was thinking something along the 'joy' theme as well. If not just 'joy' then maybe 'simply joyful' or 'simple joy'. Whatever you choose, I love this quilt.
"This way or that way" because of the arrows.
"Mindmapping"
"Roadmap"
"Rap" or "Jazz composition"
"Happy wonky scrappy"

How about, "Pointed in the Right Direction."
I see a beautiful quilt with a very pleasing and unexpected color combination. Love the texture of your quilting, too. Bravo! Hey, maybe there's a name. ; >
What are these wonderful fabrics?
Great colors! I see X's and O's or hugs and kisses :0)
Happy Sewing
Really nice! I see arrows, as in pointing the way.
Keep it simple - Just Joy! Take care, Byrd
Keep it simple - Just Joy! Take care, Byrd
I see arrows, too - but also x's and o's and hourglasses. Maybe you could call them Tic-Tac blocks... or... Kites Crossing. Or... how about Kite Festival? Totally makes me think of a festival or a carnival. Joyous! love it!
Crossroads.
I see arrows, houses, trees and roads. What about "On the road again"? This song sounds in my head when look at the finished quilt. Congrats. Great impression.
The quilt turned out beautiful! Glad there was less drama than the last one! Great job!
Wonderful design. Reminds me a lot of your photographs of weathered barns - the colours I think :)
renk ve hareket var yorganda . Bu yüzden adı " enerjik kesişimler " olabilir . Sevgiler...
It is glorious. I think I would just be happy to make a quilt from start to finish!
this is an XXX (rated) color explosion
I see Pathways and arrows that tell me to go This Way and That. What a fun, colourful quilt!
Based on your fabrics, I'd call it Gemstones. I like the way the sharp angles make it look like a bunch of cut gem facets all pushed together.
Gorgeous riot of colors! That's why I'd name it Kaleidoscope.
I'm way off, but my first thought was Aztec Spring. But then I saw the more or less square as the block, not the actual block.
Arms akimbo?

Pointing in the right direction is the name I would give it. Love the quilt!
Thanks to each of you for all the great name ideas!
And to answer Nifty Quilts question, the fabrics are from Moda's Grunge series from Basic Gray. :)
luv it-how about Jubilant Crossings!
I like "New Directions" -- I think it works on so many levels, literally and metaphorically, because you've branched out in a new directions that has taken you to a joyous conclusion. This quilt makes me smile. Beautiful job, Victoria.

Socks. I opened my eyes to the page and I saw lots and lots of Socks!
The quilt is beautiful!
The thought that immediately came to me when I saw your beautiful quilt was PUZZLES.
i, too, thought "this way, that way," but that made me think of the scarecrow in the wizard of oz, up on his post, saying "of course, people do go both ways," as he crosses his arms in front of him and points in opposite directions at once. for whatever that's worth...
Again, many thanks to each of you! I've loved hearing your ideas and what you all see... so many creative visions and names!!
After mulling it over, I have decided to name the quilt "Railroad Crossing" as that was part of my original inspiration and what I kept going back to, (although I was really tempted to change that and go with a few of the suggestions you all made here)!
And in regards to the last comment made before this one... thisbe, I thought of the very same thing, scarecrow and all!
How about "Summer Bangles"?
Beautiful.
And no, I dislike binding so much that I don't think I've ever made a quilt that was a joy start to finish!
It's a square-dance! Knock-kneed ladies, bent-kneed cowboys, elbows interlocked, the ladies' ruffled skirts, the caller's cowboy hat perched over his open mouth, his hand slapping the rhythm on his knee - bent from his foot on a spindle-backed chair, the rafters in the barn, the barn doors, and the bird's eye view of groups of 4 couples, twirling 'round the square.
AS SOON AS I SAW IT FRUIT POPS CAME TO MIND!!THEY LOOK POPSICLES TO ME THE BOTTOM PART OF THEM ON THE STICK..
Love the quilt. Kaleidoscope Is what it reminded me of.
