Pretty Little Things

Still playing with some simple weavings...

Humble cotton yarns to make some more mug-rugs...

and torn strips of fabric to make some more rag-weavings...

And more of these...

festive colored pin cushions!

My next project is going be weaving with torn strips of shot cottons... looking forward to seeing how the various colors of the frayed edges appear. Will be sure to share the results once done.

Hope you all had a lovely holiday, and that your New Year is already turning out to be a wonderful one! xo

Wow! You have been busy! Those little mug rugs slay me. I need to get my hands on one of those for my daily Yerba Mate!

Love the simple and beautiful designs. Hats off to you for keeping such perfect tension throughout your weaving..I tried my hand at it a few years back, but struggled with keeping the tension consistent. Beautiful work.

My mother is a weaver....she does the most beautiful tapestry weaving and every now and then I'm tempted to learn, but how many addictions can one have. I just told her I should do a post on her work. It's lovely seeing your love for weaving rekindled.

I adore the woven mug rugs I bought from you...I gave one set to my father for his birthday and kept one set for myself in my sewing room. They make me so happy!

Thanks to each of you! I encourage anyone interested in weaving to look into it. See if there are any weaving schools in your area where you could try out a loom. Also remember that they come in many different types and sizes... maybe a simple rigid heddle loom, (which is what I first began on) or a small table loom would fit your needs!

Simply Scaife Family, believe me, I struggle with tension, too! There are a few things one can do while warping that greatly help, as well as some tricks one can try during weaving, should some areas get loose... but please know that you are not alone, as it can be tricky.

MariQuilts, Yes, I hope you do a post on your mother! I would love to see here work!
