Fall has finally come, and I think it's obvious that the season's arrival has had a strong influence on my color pallet...

And to keep things interesting, I made another fall inspired "Color Weave", but this time I folded it up and made a...
Clutch!
With a beautiful hand made ceramic button, from my friend Maggie,
and modeled here by my youngest in her oh, so snazzy purple jeans,
the clutch is roomy enough to hold a sketchbook/journal and supplies...
This Color Weave Artisans Clutch is also now available in my shop.

In other news... Thank you all for the sweet well wishes and thoughts. My husband was able to stay with his mother for one week, as she amazingly held on, defying the doctors and the Hospice workers earlier predictions that she only had a day or two left. He reluctantly left at the end of the week, as he had to get back to his job 8 hours away. My Mother-in-Law passed away later that same evening. While this has been very sad, and she will be missed, we are relieved to know that she is no longer suffering. Now, go hug all the people you love, breath in some fresh air, marvel at birds flying by, (or stars in the sky) and smile.
My deepest sympathy on the passing of your mother-in-law; my prayers are with you through this difficult time in your family's life.

ReplyDeleteMichelle, actually weaving came before quilting. My loom sits sad and lonely in the basement. As soon as eldest graduates, and eventually moves off on her own, I'll use her room for much needed studio space! ( But no rush!)

How right you are. I heard a theory that the dying wait until those they love have left before they go. It seems to happen a lot. At least your husband had his precious moments with his mother.

Your quilt is wonderful! As for my prices... oh what a battle. Something many of us grapple with. I fear if I charged per hour, my work would only be affordable to a select few, and being a person who knows what it is like to want to buy something but not able to justify the expense, I like the idea of my work being accessible and affordable to many. However, with the cost of everything going up, my prices will have to as well if I want to earn any kind of living, (and I do!)

ReplyDeleteMy sympathies on your MIL's passing...it's been almost 2 months since we met in Cleveland (is that all, seems like so long ago!), and I remember how ill she was then...how nice that you all had time to say goodbye.
Beautiful cluth and thank you for the words of wisdom. We also lost a family member this summer, very quickly, to cancer. You never know how much time you will have, so enjoy it.
