New Color Weave Work

Note: Rain came today, and remains in the forecast for the next several days, but after a 2 week blog hiatus, (that actually felt much longer) I was anxious to get the following work photographed and posted... so please excuse the non-too stellar quality of these shots.)

Fall has finally come, and I think it's obvious that the season's arrival has had a strong influence on my color pallet...

Color Weave #3 is now available in my shop.
(Note: Now Sold.)

And to keep things interesting, I made another fall inspired "Color Weave", but this time I folded it up and made a...

Clutch!

With a beautiful hand made ceramic button, from my friend Maggie,

and modeled here by my youngest in her oh, so snazzy purple jeans,
the clutch is roomy enough to hold a sketchbook/journal and supplies...

This Color Weave Artisans Clutch is also now available in my shop.

In other news... Thank you all for the sweet well wishes and thoughts. My husband was able to stay with his mother for one week, as she amazingly held on, defying the doctors and the Hospice workers earlier predictions that she only had a day or two left. He reluctantly left at the end of the week, as he had to get back to his job 8 hours away. My Mother-in-Law passed away later that same evening. While this has been very sad, and she will be missed, we are relieved to know that she is no longer suffering. Now, go hug all the people you love, breath in some fresh air, marvel at birds flying by, (or stars in the sky) and smile.

  7. Thank you everyone.

Michelle, actually weaving came before quilting. My loom sits sad and lonely in the basement. As soon as eldest graduates, and eventually moves off on her own, I'll use her room for much needed studio space! ( But no rush!)

  14. It is so often that once we leave the ones we love, they feel free to pass on. This happened with my Mother too. I am sure your Mother-in-Law is smiling at your words from where she is now. Your new work is so beautiful, I had to snap up the quilt. Your colors always speak to me. xox Corrine

  21. Hi Vic,
How many hours of stitching these must have taken!
Sorry to hear about your MIL. I was wondering about your absence but didn't dare ask. Have a good weekend.

  22. How right you are. I heard a theory that the dying wait until those they love have left before they go. It seems to happen a lot. At least your husband had his precious moments with his mother.
Your clutch colours are beautiful and I love the pumpkin with the graceful stem.

I have posted a blog about your work inspiring me and I do hope it is okay with you that I referred my few readers over to look at your terrific art pieces. Also, I have made a table topper for a friend
from your inspiration and have posted that picture as well.
Thank for posting your beautiful work. I don't know how you can sell your work for so little! this small piece took me hours and hours!

  28. Thank you very much everyone. xo

Kim, extra special thank you to you. :0)
Your quilt is wonderful! As for my prices... oh what a battle. Something many of us grapple with. I fear if I charged per hour, my work would only be affordable to a select few, and being a person who knows what it is like to want to buy something but not able to justify the expense, I like the idea of my work being accessible and affordable to many. However, with the cost of everything going up, my prices will have to as well if I want to earn any kind of living, (and I do!)

  29. I'm definately taking your advice to heart Victoria, so many sad things happen that are out of our control, you can never
have too many hugs. I'm glad your husband got that week with his mum.

My sympathies on your MIL's passing...it's been almost 2 months since we met in Cleveland (is that all, seems like so long ago!), and I remember how ill she was then...how nice that you all had time to say goodbye.
