Hard to believe that this summer is coming to an end soon. Weather wise, the days have been so spectacular! Before the season is officially over, I thought I should make something that reflects the beautiful colors and wonderful patchwork of unstructured days that make summer so special.
This pretty patchwork table runner features various prints from Kaffe Fassett and Philip Jacobs.
I stitched the quilted rows very close, (3/16" apart) and used various colors of thread, (Sulky's Premium Cotton which is slightly thicker then regular thread.)
The various stitched rows of color thread help to create a very subtle color overlay pattern on top of the fabric prints... a bit hard to see in these photos but a really lovely effect in person.
The back of quits can be as much fun to make as the fronts!
And of course, this Patchwork Table Runner is currently available in my shop!

ReplyDeleteI've heard a saying since I started quilting (and isn't there a book by the title?) Quilting Makes the Quilt. I don't always agree with that but your quilting is spectacular and certainly only adds to the beauty of the fabrics you chose. How do you mark your quilts for such narrow quilting lines?

ReplyDeleteStephanie, I don't mark my quilts. I just use the presser foot as a guide and sometimes change my needle position. (Not sure if all machines can do that or not. I have a Bernina and can move the needle from far left to far right and everywhere in between, very good feature!)

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful table runner! I just went to a very fun and colourful lecture with Kaffe Fassett the other day, and it's great to se some of his fabrics together in a finished project.
ReplyDeleteMay I know what's the width between the rows - I'm guessing quarter inch. Seen this everywhere but never try it. Maybe my next baby quilt to be quilted will be this instead of the normal stippling.
