Patchwork Days
Hard to believe that this summer is coming to an end soon. Weather wise, the days have been so spectacular! Before the season is officially over, I thought I should make something that reflects the beautiful colors and wonderful patchwork of unstructured days that make summer so special.
This pretty patchwork table runner features various prints from Kaffe Fassett and Philip Jacobs.
I stitched the quilted rows very close, (3/16" apart) and used various colors of thread, (Sulky's Premium Cotton which is slightly thicker then regular thread.)
The various stitched rows of color thread help to create a very subtle color overlay pattern on top of the fabric prints... a bit hard to see in these photos but a really lovely effect in person.
The back of quits can be as much fun to make as the fronts!
And of course, this Patchwork Table Runner is currently available in my shop!

Really gorgeous. And the back is really a second front.
ReplyDeleteInspires me to make one of my own (Although my dining table is 3 meters long. Phew)
Andi :-)
That's beautiful - love the colors and especially the quilting!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the quilting in these and of course the fabric. Thanks for sharing how you did this. I will have to give this a try. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe close stitching gave the effect of a wide wale corduroy. Want to rub my hands over the textured surface.
ReplyDeleteWow! Your runner is gorgeous! The fabrics, the quilting...
ReplyDeleteI've heard a saying since I started quilting (and isn't there a book by the title?) Quilting Makes the Quilt. I don't always agree with that but your quilting is spectacular and certainly only adds to the beauty of the fabrics you chose. How do you mark your quilts for such narrow quilting lines?
ReplyDeleteYou are right the colors are just gorgeous and certainly does reflect sunny days. This table runner is just gorgeous. Yet another project to do with wonderful Kaffe fabrics.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! This sure does have a wonderful happy summer vibe to it! It's a beautiful quilt! I love the first photo of it hanging in your yard. The wheelbarrow in the background is a cute touch! Hey you have a new blog banner! It's so so so cute! It is new right? Or was it here last time and I missed it? Either way, I really like it! Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day long weekend Vic :) xo
ReplyDeleteOooh, I thought for a second that your word verification was swearing at me! Nope. All good. It says 'fackin' hehe.
Goodness that table runner is gorgeous! Love all the deep colors and the straight quilting.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the nice words!
ReplyDeleteStephanie, I don't mark my quilts. I just use the presser foot as a guide and sometimes change my needle position. (Not sure if all machines can do that or not. I have a Bernina and can move the needle from far left to far right and everywhere in between, very good feature!)
Hey Harriet, yes Tracy my dear that is a new banner! So happy you like it and what a relief that my word-veri didn't harass you with unnecessary vulgarity!

ReplyDeletetotally beautiful and such incredible craftsmanship, surely that isn't the back its reversible!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlso, so great that just as I was thinking, "Hrm... I wonder what kind of thread she used for the quilting..." you answered it right in the post.
Thanks for reading my mind!
absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful table runner! I just went to a very fun and colourful lecture with Kaffe Fassett the other day, and it's great to se some of his fabrics together in a finished project.
ReplyDeleteMay I know what's the width between the rows - I'm guessing quarter inch. Seen this everywhere but never try it. Maybe my next baby quilt to be quilted will be this instead of the normal stippling.
