Mo Wishes You All a Happy 4th!


We will be staying home and enjoying some simple family time...
a picnic and a little croquet.
Mo loves a watching a good game of croquet!
(No going out to see fireworks as we don't want to leave Mo alone.)


As for Mo... she is still hanging in there, despite the ever growing sinus tumor which now distorts her snout, a constantly runny and sometimes bloody nose, and a slew of infections due to a suppressed immune system.

Her mood remains amazingly positive.

I on the other hand have been feeling very blue over Mo. It is so hard watching someone you love be so sick, (it has been a year now) and truthfully, dealing with the daily care can take a toll on one's energy and mood. However, just when I think I can't deal with much more, (of which I feel much guilt over) Mo gives me one of those looks... a goofy smile, a wag of the tail, a twinkle in her eye and my heart melts with love and renewed energy.

    Happy 4th of July! A picnic and a game of croquet sounds much more fun than silly fireworks any day! You are so brave and strong and I'm so sorry for all of the bad days Mo experiences. Despite the bad ones and the very visible tumor, Mo does look happy and content in these photos. You are both so brave and strong! Much love to you and Mo and I hope you both enjoy the weekend. xo

    It really is a horrible time..well horrible but precious. In some ways when we were going through it I was wishing it was over but still wanting to hang on.
    Its over 2 months now since Willow went and I still expected her to be outside the bedroom door this morning. I still accidentally call the cat Willow, and my sons dog.
    BUT..we are thinking of another dog. Its happened rather quickly but I realise i can still be loyal to Willows memory and love another dog. Details are on my other blog. (Link in text.) maybe you read it.

    Aww she looks like a sweetie. Poor girl. But it never ceases to amaze me how relentlessly happy dogs can be. They are in many ways an inspiration to us all.

    I haven't visited for a while, it is good to know Mo is still a sweet girl and hangin' in there. I am sending scritches for Mo and strength for you. I know the wearing, eroding tiredness that comes with that sort of illness. Blessings to you both.

    My friend just sent me a link to your blog, partly for your mossy quilt experiment and partly because of Mo. We lost three dogs last year, two of them from sudden and invasive cancer which killed in a matter of days. I still call the two new Shelties by the old ones' names at times.

    I cannot imagine what it would be like to know what was going on and to have to watch the disease progress. That seems much more difficult to me and my heart goes out to you and Mo. In our case both dogs collapsed suddenly.

    Dogs are so wonderful because they take life as it comes. Mo will do this and will tell you when it's time for him to go. But you need courage and wisdom in this situation and I wish you both.
