ReplyDeleteI adore elephants, so this seems a perfect combo for me. Unfortunately, it takes so ^*&%?! long to get some videos to load I have to throw my arms up in frustration. I'll try later when the web traffic has died down.

ReplyDelete12 years to make?! Eames Demetrious said making this film was very time consuming, I guess so! I so enjoyed this Victoria, from the elephant noises as they herded into the stores and up the stairs, with the little ones hopping stair by stair. And there was one scary part when they were trying to cross a busy street and the little ones hopped on the bigger elephant's back, too cute! Did I hear right, those cost about hundred dollars apiece to make?

Sandra, I know, 12 years what a labor of love. I held my breath as they crossed the busy street, and I loved that the crossing light showed elephants and not people! As for Capt. Solomon contacting me.

ReplyDeleteThis is sweet little movie. Thanks for posting it. Do you know if Charles Eames and Russell Wright knew each other? Charles Eames is probably as highly regarded in design circles as Diego Giacometti. The furniture of both men is inventive and stylish. Anyway, Victoria, this is a good post.
I also have trouble viewing film clips. Tried yesterday & it didn't work. Tried now & it didn't work. Ugh! I'm sure it will work next time. Have you visited the Eames website. It's so much fun! Problem is that I want to purchase EVERYTHING on it!
ReplyDeleteBascom, I wonder how the various designers of that time interacted with each other, and what type of relationships/influence they had with one another. When I think of other creative artistic movements, such as post-impressionism, modern art, etc. I can easily identify relationships between many of the artists. However I really don't know much about the same when it comes to the mid-century modern designers. My limited knowledge is only on them individually. I would be interested in learning more though of their interactions with one another.
