Life: A Glorious Privilege
However, last week when forced to take a long detour, off of my chosen regular path, I stumbled upon a very old and beautiful church that beckoned me to stop...
Walking among the tombstones, many of them marked with flags to show those who so bravely fought in our past wars, I thought of this Fourth of July, where once again I am thankful for all of my blessings, but deeply wish to live in a world where war is but a distant memory, and everyone, everywhere, lives in peace, health and prosperity...
May you all have a happy 4th.
The grave of a soldier who fought in the Revolutionary War.
A mother's love and sorrow.
Yes, indeed it is.

Seeing as it is July 4th, I thought the vintage photograph below would be very fitting to post in my shop and offer up for today's "BooDillys Daily Dilly" special.
FOURTH of JULY VINTAGE PATRIOTIC PHOTO:
Based on their clothing I am guessing this photo was taken sometime in the 1910's. Since the little boy, (I love his expression) is holding a flag with 48 stars, it would have also had to been sometime after 1912.
Remember, if you buy this Fourth of July Vintage Photograph from my BooDilly's Shop today, July 4th 2008, I will refund you via PayPal, 10% of your purchase price for this item, plus 10% of your shipping price for this item. All you have to do, is after your purchase, leave a message either in the comment section here or through Etsy, to let me know you saw it here. This offer is only good for today. Check back tomorrow for another "BooDilly's Daily Dilly" special!

ReplyDeleteHappy Independence day! Have fun at your opening tonight! We had considered the trip out there, but then we wound up having an outing yesterday (I guess that sort of maxed out our quota for the month...!) Lancanster City looks like a delightful town. We will try to make a visit at some point.
ReplyDeleteOld graveyards are quite beautiful, I agree. Love your pictures. Have a wonderful 4th!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th to both of you!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fun outing yesterday with your family Michelle, probably good that it worked out the way it did, as it is pouring rain here today!
Yesterday we went to another great Lancaster county town, Lititz, PA....
Small town America at its best. Unbelievably charming. A must see for when you do come to Lancaster! Forgot to bring my camera, but will definitely have to do a post about it some time!
Happy 4th, littlebyrd!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, Victoria!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th to you and your family!
These are great photogrpahs! A Happy 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely 4th of July post. Super graveyard photos. I enjoy strolling through cemetaries with my dog. I find them really beautiful & interesting places to visit. I just have to watch that my dog doesn't piddle in inappropriate spots. That wouldn't be right somehow...
ReplyDeleteWhen we finally plan on the trip out there, I'll definitely contact you for a list of "must sees"!
