Small String Study

In an on going effort to use up my leftover scraps, I have begun making little quilts such as the one shown here.

I always have left over strips, and small pieces of batting laying around, and they lend themselves wonderfully for making little "string" pieced quilts, which give me a fun and safe place to explore line, color interaction and various stitching ideas.

Plus I love to work on a small scale!

Expect to see more of these sprinkled here and there on my blog and in my shop, as they are a bit like eating potato chips, you can't just stop at one, (truth be told, when it comes to potato chips, I could easily eat a whole bag without even blinking!)

This Small String Study Art Quilt measures 8 1/4" x 15 3/4". Perfect size for a small space that needs a little something!

Note: This quilt has been sold.

Gorgeous, as always! I see you work with blues and greens so often I was surprised that you chose pink/orange for the improv. Can't wait to see what comes next. :)

Wondering how sweet Mo is doing. Well, I hope.

are these hand dyed fabrics? they have such a richness.

Jacquie, the fabrics are by Kaffe Fasset. I really like them as the color is woven in, not printed. Plus the solids use one color for the weft, and another color for the warp, giving a really rich luminosity to the fabric and changing the color slightly as the fabric is shifted or turned. Very similar to certain dupioni silks, but in cotton.

Oh this is another gorgeous quilt! I was going to call it a 'scrappy quilt' but that seems terribly wrong somehow. I'm also lovin' the names you are giving these adorable pieces.

Hey I eat whole bags of chips (jumbo size) in one go. Nothing wrong with that! Is there? Hope you have a good chippy supply for your weekend of snow. While on the subject of chips, isn't it amazing the range of flavours on offer these days? When I was a kid we had maybe 3 or 4 flavours from memory. Now it's a whole supermarket aisle to choose from! I'm blown away by the progress of the humble potato chip :)

And like not being able to stop at a few chips. I seem to over indulge in words in your comment box too!
